As Taaibosch wines are produced in limited quantities, the estate is not generally open to the public. However, on this particular day, the gates were opened for an intimate gathering that offered guests a rare glimpse into the home of the Crescendo.
A Journey Into the Vineyards
Guests arrived at the estate at 10:30 and were warmly welcomed by the Taaibosch team, including winemaker and CEO, Schalk-Willem Joubert.
Rather than heading directly to the tasting room, the morning began with an adventure into the vineyards. Guests climbed aboard vehicles for a drive higher up the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, where some of the estate’s most prized vineyard blocks are found.
Stepping out into the fresh winter air, guests were treated to panoramic views across the estate while Schalk-Willem shared the story of Taaibosch, a remarkable 60-hectare property rooted in a deep respect for the land and a commitment to producing wines of exceptional quality.
Among the vines, conversations flowed easily as visitors gained a deeper understanding of the unique conditions that shape every vintage of Crescendo.
Behind the Cellar Doors
From the vineyards, guests returned to the cellar, where another highlight of the day awaited.
The striking Taaibosch cellar, completed in 2019, provided the perfect setting for an intimate tasting experience. After a guided walk through the cellar, guests entered a beautifully prepared tasting space where a long table awaited the group of just fifteen attendees.
There was a sense of anticipation in the room as everyone took their seats.
This was not simply a wine tasting. It was an opportunity to hear the story of Crescendo directly from the person responsible for crafting it.

Each wine was presented with purpose and paired with carefully selected accompaniments, including fresh olives, matured cheddar, and authentic jamón imported from Spain. The pairings enhanced the tasting experience while allowing the wines to shine.
Speciality Riedel glassware further elevated the occasion, ensuring that every aroma, texture, and flavour could be fully appreciated.
One of the most memorable aspects of the tasting was the opportunity to experience multiple vintages side by side. Guests tasted the 2019 and 2020 vintages before exploring the current release, revealing the remarkable evolution and longevity that define Taaibosch Crescendo.
